The Weekender

Posted on the 10 October 2011 by Thesecretlifeofjen

Took the weekend off, both exercise-wise and work-wise.  Another long weekend (yep, Canberra gets two in a row).  And it has been seriously lazy.

I started the preparation for my friend’s last big night on the town before her wedding on Friday.  A well needed manicure and pedicure at Simply Gorgeous  thanks to a LivingSocial deal (pretty pink for spring), and a visit to my hairdresser at Shi.  Btw, although it’s another story entirely – just a tip for you – don’t stress, your hair will fall out(!) Yep, a story for another time  ;)

Finished Friday with drinks at Tilley’s > meeting my supervisor and a few girls from uni that are moving away.  It was lovely to see them off, but I have to admit, it was hard – because I haven’t finished yet(!)  More motivation to get ‘er done!

Saturday I lounged about, picking out an outfit to suit the 1920′s/40′s/50′s/60′s theme.  Yep, there was some confusion.  But I picked a pretty a-line dress with heels (which was a worry because I rarely wear heels anymore!).  Hello trashy hens night!  We started with a very classy nude male drawing class at Rydges  :)   A dimly lit, heated room, with lots of champagne and another topless waiter serving finger food.  Following the drawings (yep, the champagne helped!), it was time for some fun hens games.  Toilet paper wedding dress anyone?  Playdough penis shaping?  They’ve got you covered.

After a fun couple of hours, we walked to Hotel Realm for dinner and drinks atOstani.  $30 pp for bread and dips, lots of pizza and salads.  Started with wine, but it wasn’t long before it was time for vodka.  Then it was time to move on for more drinks and dancing.  We finished the night at The Kennedy Room in Kingston.  I had a couple more drinks – a favourite of the night was the Sour Apple cocktail.  Definitely recommended.  After a few walks with taxis missing in action, and some dancing, I found a nice lil blister on my foot when I got home.

Sunday was a very lazy start.  Mr. J began pancakes for breakfast, but after a couple of failed attempts, I took over and ended up making it all myself(!)  Thanks for the lovely Sunday breakfast Mr. J  ;)   I did well though, maples syrup and perfect (packet) pancakes ;)   Then it was time for coffee (iced for me) and a grocery trip.  My poor feet(!!!)

Luckily, I had some extra special massaging thongs waiting for this very problem!  I am certainly in need of some – “heaven for (my!) feet”  Souls.

The WeekenderThen it got real lazy.  I may or may not have watched the rest of United States of Tara Season 3.  Yep, real lazy.

Finished our Sunday with yummy steak for dinner.
