9am.
I open my eyes and see the sun shining behind the
window curtain.
Still hugging my pillow and not wanting to let go…
I bargain for a few more minutes to dose off.
But it’s a weekday, I remind myself.
And I should only allow myself to sleep longer on
weekends.
Somehow I manage to nudge myself to get up…
Doing my best to ignore the negative thoughts
playing inside my head.
I change from my nightgown to my house clothes….
Yet the nagging voice kept screaming…
Of guilt. Worry. And self-deprecation…
Making my day sound bad before it could even begin.
I fight them back.
And I go on…
Only to find myself irritable at the slightest
things.
Life goes on nonetheless…
