Travelogue ~ Qutub Minar

Posted on the 07 October 2013 by Jasminebhatia @jas_mine7
A few weeks ago, I went to Qutub Minar after almost 2 decades. Despite living in Delhi, I have never been really enthusiastic about visiting this place after my first ever school excursion trip in the kindergarten. However, My awesome brother was here on a visit and he wanted to see all the heritage sites  in Delhi. So we landed up at Qutub Minar :)
My first reaction upon reaching the place was, "WOW", What a beautiful and peaceful place...anyhow I am glad that due to my brother I got to visit this beautiful place once again :))
A brief about this wonderful Heritage Site:

Originally an ancient Islamic Monument, inscribed with Arabic inscriptions, though the iron pillar has some Brahmi inscriptions, and is a UNESCOWorld Heritage Site The tower has 379 stairs, is 72.5 metres (237.8 ft) high, and has a base diameter of 14.3 metres, which narrows to 2.7 metres at the top storey. Construction was started in 1192 by Qutub-ud-din Aibak and was completed by Iltutmish It is surrounded by several other ancient and medieval structures and ruins, collectively known as the Qutub complexThe Qutab Minar is made of red sandstone covered with intricate carvings and verses from the Qur'an.It is built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak Numerous inscriptions in Parso-Arabic and Nagari characters in different sections of the Qutub Minar reveal the history of its construction. (Source Wikipedia
