Troopers - Lamuan branch

Troopers - Lamuan branch

Filipinos love to eat without a doubt. We have 3 main meals a day with 2 "meriendas" in between plus a midnight snack for some. Food will be present in every occasion or even in the simplest celebrations.. from birthdays, baptismal, weddings, getting hired, passing that board exam, to as simple as celebrating the win of your favorite basketball team or having some quality time with your crush (Ayiee).. food-is-there. So as food establishments develop over time on what customers want to get that interest and capture them, a lot of unique features are being offered nowadays.. From point and cook, grill on site, buy 1 take 1 meals, to even buy 1 take 2 for some. But from all of the these restaurant strategical features, 1 of the top where there is a great chance that you'll get the attention of the majority is offering UNLIMITED RICE. Well for this one, its even better! They serve unlimited JAVA rice. Man, just saying it makes me hungry!
Have you guys tried TROOPERS by Chef Moms already? I honestly have heard of them from friends before so I was kind of curious what they serve. I went at their Lamuan branch after a meeting with a co worker and tried to see what they have. They say some of their branches have queue lines at times before you can go inside and eat so there must be something at least worth trying with all the buzz.

Ribs meal a.k.a Commander by Troopers

Upon seeing their menu, one stood up for me and that is their "Commander" which is under their ribs category. Ribs are one of my favorites. I seldom eat at expensive restaurants that have them but when they do, its automatic baby! Haha! Though they have steaks too which is I think one of their must trys, but I prefer ribs over steaks (Excuse me for the steak lovers / fanatics out there but that is just how the world goes, lol). It was served around 10 - 15 mins. which was fast enough for me and the meat is soft, nicely done. For a P129 meal, its worth it. Knowing that you get to replenish your java rice and combine it with the gravy.. I like potatoes too which is a plus! I appreciate the side veggies except the corn! If they can separate it before serving, I will give them the slow clap.. Now you know Troopers! Hehe..
The area is comfy. It was AC'ed and has a flat-screen TV to keep you company while waiting for your food. This is where I knew that their name Troopers which is a military themed restaurant paired with camouflage colors inside-and-out is supported by catering a variety of american foods like burgers, chicken tenders and chips. They also do serve other favorites like pastas, sausages and sisig. Crispy pata, chicken teriyaki and calamares even made it on their list. What a combination right? But who cares, as long as what works for them, works for them. If they think that they can carry it without loosing or confusing their customers on what their concept is, go for it.  Keep it up guys!

From what I have heard, they already have 7 branches and still counting! I saw a news feed on my Facebook account that they are even open for franchise, a great news both for the customers to be more accessible and for some business entrepreneurs out there looking for a concept which is ready to go (might discuss this on a separate blog post).

Scanning their current menu, you can eat a decent meal starting from their simple rice meals at P79 to as high as P199 for their usual main courses. Quite balanced for students to afford on their breaks to even families planning a dine out. Well, that excludes their "Captain" & "General of the Generals" which for me I think is good enough for sharing as long as you haven't skipped a meal or you came straight from a tiring sports game.

On my next visit (yes, claiming it soon), I might try either their T-bone steak which is called "General of the Army" or the sisig which I am a great fan of generally. The steak lover / fanatics will now kill me knowing that I aside from preferring it after the ribs, is that I want it well-done (Haha! Yes guys, hunt me now). While for the sisig, as long as it is spicy and meaty enough we would be fine. I just hope to not experience again anymore my single hated sisig dish ever that was over flowing with onions with like a pinch of meat in it. Oh my, it was nearly a traumatic experience which nearly destroyed my appetite on the whole sisig family. Haha!

So would I recommend you to try eating here? Of course I do! With all the splurge on the sudden rise of eat-all-you-can / buffet restaurants to even the unlimited Korean barbecues out there, most of them have dreaded lines which are not already worth it for me. Well, some branches of Troopers really get queues (on specific times) too but not as deadly as the buffet ones, that is why I am suggesting you to go visit on the unusual eating times which are in betweens so you can enjoy it.
I know it is quite difficult to break our regular routines especially when we have regular work schedules but trying to plan it, planning an unusual schedule, won't hurt. Sometimes, we appreciate things on the most unexpected moments so there might be something special waiting for you here. Troopers might be the one you are waiting for to be added on your list of your favorite restaurants ever. So plan that plan now. ;)
