Veet Wax Strips Review and Give-away Alert: Ya-Man No!No! Hair Removal

Ever since I got tired of wearing pants and started loving shorts, skirts and dresses, waxing has somewhat become a necessity. Most of the people in my country probably wouldn't bother, but I just feel cleaner when my legs are hair-free.
I've tried all sorts of hair-removal methods before. Shaving and hair removal creams turned out to be very inconvenient. The hair just grows back in a few days. Hot wax on the other hand, feels messy. Moreover, you may even burn yourself if it's too hot.
Cold wax strips turned out to be my favorite.
I have used Veet Wax Strips in the past but this is the first time I'm using the Sherry Butter and Berry Fragrance variant and here's what I think about it.

5 Steps:

Claims:1) Long lasting results - your skin stays touchably smooth for up to 4 weeks! Unlike razors, Veet Wax Strips remove your hair at the root, and it is clinically proven that with repeated use it will regrow fewer, finer, and softer.
2) Now proven to work on even shorter hair (1.5mm) - grabs hair as short as 1.5mm, so you wait less time for your hair to grow back before waxing again! Use the 1.5mm graduations printed on the strips to make sure your hair is the correct length.

3) Care for you skin type - contains Shea Butter, well known for its skin protective properties.
For best results follow these tips:
  • Place the strip in the direction of hair growth and remove it against the direction of hair growth by holding the EasyGrip tab.
  • The faster you remove the strip, the more effective it will be.
  • Repeat the application in a consistent pattern; you can re-use each strip several times until it loses its stickiness.

Now for the review.
SmellYou can't really expect cold wax to smell pleasant. But you'll be happy to know that it doesn't smell terrible nor is the scent overpowering. Neither does it stick to the skin too. There's a faint hint of fragrance but it doesn't really do the job of covering the waxy smell.
TextureIt's wax so it's sticky. The wax residues are in fact very very sticky and are difficult to get rid of. This is expected as it's supposed to pull off hair. It's also what the Perfect Finish Wipes are for.
Perfect Finish WipesThese are effective in removing wax residues. But you can also use baby oil in case you run out of this. I use my Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil.
Price and DurationP224.75 at Robinsons GensanIn my opinion, this product is pricey. But the effect of waxing lasts for months. And I only need to use 2 pairs of strips for both legs, and 1 pair for both arms, 3 pairs in total. If I'm diligent in waxing (which means every 3 months for me), I only need two boxes in a year.
Directions(my version):1. Rub the wax strip between your hands for 15 seconds and slowly peel them apart.2. Apply the sticky part of the strip on the area where you want to remove hair.3. Rub the strip for 10 seconds in the same direction your hair grows.4. Pull the strip QUICK and FAST against the direction of hair growth.5. Reuse the wax strip until it's not longer effective.
Now for the big question.Does it work?
Yes, it does!
After waxing, here's how my leg look like:

totally hair-free!
By the time I'm writing this post, it's been days since I last waxed and my legs are still hair-free and I won't have to wax them again for a couple of months.
Now about the few inconveniences I had with this product.1) Wax spilling over the edge of the strip I've mentioned that this isn't the first time I used Veet Wax Strips. A year ago I was using the green version of this before I switched to Glamworks Body Wax Strips(it's cheaper though a bit less effective). Back then,  Veet Wax Strips looked different. They were plain rectangles so I was curious to find this supposedly improved design of the the strips.
At this point, please refer to the image below. Now with the new design, you're suppose to pull the strips at (1). Now as the strips are reusable, I realized that with each pull, the wax slides little by little to (2). When that happens, the wax that spills from the edge can no longer be pulled from the skin by the strip, hence leaving more residue. So what I do is instead of pulling at (1) I try to pull at (3) instead. It worked much better that way.

2) AllergiesIt's actually my little sister who experienced this. We're not sure though if the allergic reaction was caused by the product itself, or by the act of the hair being pulled. But this is why it's important to check first if you are allergic to this product. Refer to the picture below for the list of precautions that I'm too lazy to type down.

FAQ1) Does it hurt?I'm not gonna lie. It does. But to me it stung in the same manner as when I slap my leg. It's tolerable, and these days, I barely flinch or think twice before pulling the strip.
2) Is it effective for the underarms?I generally find wax strips ineffective for underarms. I use hard wax instead. My favorite brand is Epilin. You can check out my review here.

Waxing is no doubt my favorite hair removal method and I'm sticking to it until I'm able to afford those more expensive ones. Another method I'm eyeing though is epilating.
Right now, an epilator is just waaaaay outside my budget. If you don't know what an epilator is, ask google. It's sure worth checking out.

This baby is even better than an epilator. I really hope I can win this!
