I've been an active member since December and I've been loving the products that I got so far.
The Venus & Mars Smooch Lip Detox Lip Butter Balm sample from Sample Room is equivalent to half a tube of its normal size. The sample was contained in this jar but the full size is packaged in a regular lipbalm tube.
I'm glad I got this right after I finished my Maybelline Baby Lips in Relieving Menthol so I was able to compare two clear minty lip balms. As I've mentioned in my review here, I really liked Maybelline's and would have even given it a 5/5 rating had it not been to its many claims that it wasn't able to live up to. I realized I like Venus & Mars Smooch Lip Detox even more. Here's why:
While Maybelline Baby Lips in Relieving Menthol and Venus & Mars Smooch Lip Detox both have that minty smell and feel, the latter has a smoother texture. You can apply it thinly and it's not waxy so it's easy to use as a base for your lipstick. Also it does not just sit on the top of your lips the same way that petroleum jelly(and some lip balms) does. It is absorbed well and you can tell that it really nourishes your lips.
I find that it has better healing properties too. I tend to have really chapped lips. That's why I have to wear lip balm everyday. I can't possibly skip a single day. But with Venus & Mars Smooch Lip Detox, I can. On days when I forget applying lipbalm, I find that my lips aren't as chappy as they were before, despite the fact that it's summer!
What makes this even better is that it's natural and chemical free!
At P205, it's more than twice the price of Maybelline's but I think it's still affordable. For a product that really works for me, the price is reasonable. I still have to reapply this every now and then but not as often as I have to reapply other lip balms.
