Earlier this week we went along to the Warner Bros. Welcomes Bloggers event in central London where we got to hear about the latest technologies in digital services for viewing and storing movies and television programmes which include UltraViolet and Flixster, Blinkbox, Rovi and Knowhow Movies along with a preview of the LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes game. I can honestly say that I came away a lot more knowledgeable and I am really rather excited about the new and far more convenient options available for storing and watching movies. As there is a lot of information to share following this event I shall be covering it in a series of posts starting with telling you about UltraViolet and Flixster.UltraViolet is a cloud-based library of your digital possessions. It is a new way to collect, access and watch your movies and favorite television shows in the cloud across many different devices from computes, smartphones and tablets. Various retailers and companies have begun to adopt UltraViolet which include Warner Bros. through Flixster, Paramount, Universal, Sony and Walmart Entertainment with Asda in the UK soon to come on board.
Where to find UltraViolet
To fully understand the whole UltraViolet and Flixster experience I gave it a go myself yesterday. At the event we received two UltraViolet enabled Blu-Ray Triple Play packs which were Happy Feet Two and Dolphin Tale. If a Blu-Ray is UltraViolet enabled it has a label on it with the UV logo so make sure you look out for it next time you are buying one. In order to redeem your digital copy you have to go online to http://www.flixster.com/ultraviolet/ click on Redeem and then select your movie. If it is your first time using the service you will be prompted to set up a Flixster and UltraViolet account, you then enter in the code and your movie will be stored in your online Locker in the cloud where you have the option of downloading it on to a device such as your iPad or smart phone or streaming it directly to your device or television using Apple TV. For me this is a fantastic option to have available especially for long trips where I need to keep my toddler entertained as I can load up my iPad with films for him to watch easily and quickly. You can set up multiple devices and add up to six members to your account. I was also pleased to see that you can set up parental controls for individual members in your account which is great if you want your kids to have their own account.

Then go to http://www.flixster.com/ultraviolet/ click Redeem
Once redeemed your movies will be stored in your Flixster Locker
I must say I am very interested to see how UltraViolet does in the UK and whether people will begin using it to store their movies in the cloud. Personally I know I will. I like the ease at which it allows me to access movies on all my devices without having to do anything other than load an app, select my movie and click 'watch' or download.
