Today I thought I would give everyone the reasoning behind why I named my blog "Life of A Sports Wife." I don't remember the exact month but it was 2012 while we were living in OKC. One of my besties in the whole world, Falen at Upward not Inward asked if I wanted to go to a blogger event with her. I was like Yeah, buddy I'll go with you. It was downtown OKC, and that's where the blogging world changed for me.
In the past I had just blogged for our families to give them an update on our life. I was also using it has a online journal. I didn't have many people reading or commenting on my journal, but then again that wasn't one of my concerns. It was just an outlet for me.
At the blogger event it was a way to make your blog a business. There was a few different tables on a various topics. One of on the design of your blog, but I felt more it was trying to promote their business instead of creating a GREAT blog that readers will want to come to. Especially since a lot of the bloggers at the event were very NEW bloggers. Another table was social media which was great because I left and instantly created a facebook page for my blog. I honestly don't remember the other tables, but Falen and I did leave feeling inspired.Prior to the meeting my blog name was Through the Storms. It had been my online journal of me overcoming a lot of the things going on in my life. I had rededicated my life back to JC, and still very new in my faith. I'm often jealous and want to find that fire again, but lately it just gets pushed back. I need to make time to do a bible study and such, but that is for another blog post. (I tend to get sidetracked super easily. Hope y'all don't mind.)
I wanted to change my blog name but I wasn't sure what I wanted to change it to. I had so many ideas but so many of the names have been taken. Then during a lunch with Falen we came up with The Sports Wife or Life of A Sports Wife. Gary was then working with the OKC RedHawks, and we just got back from our honeymoons. Which they were going to baseball games in Texas. We are a sports couple through and through. So there you have it Life of A Sports Wife was created.
Lately I have been participating in a lot of swaps and such. We exchange emails and ALWAYS the first thing people say is that I'm not sure we have a lot in common because I don't like sports. Well that's great you don't like sports because sometimes I get enough at home and I want to talk girl stuff. I like make-up and DIY crafts. I blog about so many different things sometimes I wonder if I'm TOO out there. I am just a regular girl who likes reading, working out, makeup, crafts, faith, family, etc but LOVE my sports!
