Why The Fitness Gypsy?!?

Posted on the 26 October 2017 by Lifeofasportswife @jessaolson
If you read my post about "What in the world I have been doing for 2 years?" you have a pretty good idea. Ever since I could remember I journaled. I journaled about day, any problems I had and tried to workout myself. I am a writer. I know I am not the best writer because I write how I talk. And sometimes I don't often proofread my stuff. (ooops!) So blogging has been second nature to me. It was an online journal. I never expected other people to read it let alone relate to what I was saying.
So during my break I thought about returning a lot. I knew if I was going to return to blogging I wanted to do it on my own terms. I wanted to make sure it felt "right" for me! So it really took me a while to think of a name. I knew I didn't want to go by name anymore. I wanted something different. So that's where The Fitness Gypsy was born.
Right now (and for the lat few years) my life has been focused on fitness. In this space I want to talk everything fitness for you. I will be the first to admit I don't know it all. If you want to know something ASK ME! I will help research it to get the answers!! I will share with you new workouts that I am doing that I love. Most of my workouts are under an hour, but effective. I hope to share with you fitness apparel, and which ones I like and didn't like. Also one thing I didn't realize there are so many different places and types of working out. I hope to visit a lot of places here in Seattle and share with you their workouts. If you have a type of workout you are nervous to try and want me to do and let you know. Contact me!!!
One thing I learned at the gym I worked at in Iowa is everyone works out differently. Some people love Crossfit, bless them I am not one of them. Some people like me LOVES barre, and I'm sure they are saying bless her heart. I don't give a flying flip what type of workout you are doing. I want you moving!! If Zumba is going to get you moving, I will help as much as I can. It is not in my wheelhouse but I just want people moving.
From working in the fitness industry for a short time my philosophy is I want you moving. In case you missed the previous paragraph. I want you to reach your goals. No matter what they are if they are important to you they are important to me. So please let me know your goals. I want to be right there checking in on you and keeping you motivated towards that goal. Same for me. I will be sharing my goals in the space. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep me accountable as well! Let's all succeed together!! #communityovercompetition
The other word in my blog name, Gypsy. I consider myself very much a gypsy. If you don't know, my husband is a retired baseball player who now works in the front office of teams. We met in 2009 while we were both working for the Iowa Energy. Since we have been together he has worked for OKC Redhawks (now OKC Dodgers) (Triple A for the Houston Astros), Arizona State Athletics, West Virginia Power (Single A for Pittsburgh Pirates), Quad Cities River Bandits (Single A for Houston Astros), and recently Everett Aquasox (Short Season A for the Seattle Mariners). We roughly stay with a team maybe 2 years then we are off to another team. The end goal is for him to be a General Manager.
Why The Fitness Gypsy?!?
When we live in each area we try to see a lot of that area because as you can see we aren't there for very long and usually aren't going back anytime soon. So we tend to do a lot of traveling. Right now we live just north of Seattle and I swear if and when we leave we won't see everything. There are so many neighborhoods here and so many things to do. For example, we went to Woodinville, WA for the day and didn't even see a tenth of things to do there. Lots of wineries and distilleries there. So pretty. I can't wait to go back in the off-season and check out more places.
So that's my gypsy lifestyle. Moving on a moments notice. Packing up quickly and effective. I am currently working on making a capsule wardrobe and living more simply. I am not giving up on my dream of a tiny house or living in a RV.
So there you have it?! Why I choose the name The Fitness Gypsy. I would love to know your goals, favorite place to travel?? If you have been to Seattle what did you love?!
Talk soon,
Jessa
