5 Fall 2016 Trends to Rock Now
Posted on the 20 August 2016 by Katherine Anne Cutar @katherineannikaThough the warm temperatures of the current season don’t seem to be fading anytime soon, fall fashion is already in full swing. And, with so many chic styles in next season’s lineup, who can blame us for wanting to try a few out now? For fall fashions you don’t have to wait to wear, add these five trends to your wardrobe ASAP.
Reconstructed Denim
Every wardrobe needs the newest iteration of the classic blue jean. This season, designers are reinventing denim by cutting and sewing different pairs of jeans together to create a unique, artsy vibe. The result is anything but your average denim, making your jeans the focal point of your ensemble. Pair with a sleeveless blouse and leather pool slides now, and then a bomber jacket and chunky ankle boots once cooler weather arrives.
The Slide
Featuring a winning combination of form and function, the slide has quickly become a must-have shoe to add to your collection. The open back makes the style easy to slip on while the low heel allows for maximum comfort (without sacrificing style) — perfect for girls who are always on the go. Available in a wide range of colors and materials, from neutrals to bold animal prints, casual canvas to luxe leather, the slide trend ensures that every fashionista will be able to find her go-to style. Adding to the slide's universal appeal (as if you needed any more reason to love it) is that it pairs well with virtually anything, from cropped trousers and skinny jeans to midi skirts and maxi dresses, making it easy to wear during any season.
Burnt Orange
The color of glowing embers, pumpkin-flavored coffee drinks, and vibrant piles of leaves, it’s not hard to see why burnt orange is a favorite shade for fall 2016. In addition to the warm orange color, earthy browns and rich rust shades were spotted on the season’s runways adorning everything from sweaters and dresses to coats and boots — giving us plenty of ways to make the shade ours.
The Choker
With 90s-inspired pieces at front and center of the fashion stage, it’s no surprise that the choker has made quite the comeback. Whether you choose to channel the trend with a slim black ribbon or a stack of chunky gold bangles, one thing is for certain: everything south of your clavicle looks a touch more polished thanks to the choker necklace. Wear with the popular off-the-shoulder neckline or a barely-there slip dress to draw even more attention to this must-have accessory.
Gold Metallic
Shine and shimmer are no longer meant for only special occasions or elegant evening soirees. This season, metallics — especially gold — are poised to be a seasonal standout and are designed to be worn anywhere, whether morning, noon, or night. Rock head-to-toe gold with an eye-catching maxi, opt for a happy medium with a pleated metallic skirt surrounded by neutral pieces, or play it safe with a pop of the trend in a shoe or clutch.
