Being Transparent

This photo was taken during #Fitcation13 in Paso Robles this past weekend

A few weeks ago a colleague and friend took a train cross country to Los Angeles from NYC.  During her travels I made it a point to check-in with her (I tend to be a mama-care-bear at times) and shoot the breeze.
We talked about her bravery, her career, the future and not so important stuff like my blog.  This blog.
Now mind you, even though I see the number of folks that stop by, and I appreciate every single comment, not to mention the folks on the street that quote my blog, I am still surprised - very - that folks like reading this blog.
It's like I'm being acknowledged and accepted into this big Sorority in cyberspace.
Moving on...
From everything we talked about during our conversations, one statement hit a chord.  A big one.
"When I read your blog it doesn't sound like Ana Lydia in real life."
Oh.
"What does it sound like, I asked?" (knowing deep inside what the answer was)
"You're censoring yourself."
Oh.
I went on to explain how I didn't want to burn bridges and that writing my deep thoughts, impressions, and life experiences has already put me in the dog house in a couple of occasions.
My blog guru (rather, the blogger that I look up to) is married, like me, has a career (like me), and yet her blog is full of beautiful things, happy thoughts, pretty pictures.
It's doubtful that my blog guru's life is just full of happy moments and photo-shopped cupcakes.
But, she chooses to only show those happy moments - and that's OK with me and her thousands of readers.
I, like her, learned to keep certain things, moments, and special occasions out of the public eye (as public as I am, this is very hard to do).
So while I do have bad days, unhappy moments, and ridiculous amounts of real life shut downs, I am deliberately opting not to talk about them - unless there's something valuable to learn from those experiences.
Not on this blog, and not with folks that only want to hear about the shit in my life.
This blog, this space, this pretty space, is my happy space - and I hope it also becomes a happy place for you too.

Being Transparent

This is me only a few days ago at the PINK concert

While I don't plan on deceiving someone or covering-up the truth, my goal is to keep things light in this space.
Happy, peppy and cheerful - while adding a bit of my personality (AKA my snark).
I am probably going to loose some of you that are looking for a drama-filled blog, but I know that I am going to gain more friends because I am choosing to highlight what is good, pretty and inspiring.
I hope ya'll are OK with that and continue to read a little bit more about me and my observations on life.
