Cheating on Hanukkah

Posted on the 22 December 2011 by Latinaprpro @latinaprpro
This is the third year that my hubby and I host a Christmas Day brunch.  Usually it's a small crowd of friends in our Westside apartment.
From friends that don't have local family, to those that had a last minute change of plans; our door is open and welcomes everyone with a smile and lots of Holiday cheer.
Our menu is usually prepared by me and my dear friend Suzanne - who happens to be a foodie and a kick-ass home-chef.  No joke!
Other than my beautiful cherry pie that didn't make it past the broiler last year (don't ask!), all dishes are a hit.  Wine, of course, starts pouring as soon as the first guest arrives and my Tiffany platter sits pretty patiently awaiting a choice side-dish.
It is, unlike the family gathering's I happen to be a guest at, the only Holiday event of the year that is hosted in my home.  And of course, being a foodie myself and natural hostess, I love having a little piece of the Holiday's in my personal space.
This year will be no different:  Same friends are invited, new ones plan to show, other's have other plans, and a friend that I thought didn't celebrate Christmas (because she happens to be Jewish) will be cheating on Hanukkah to celebrate the Holiday's with us!
To me, to us, it confirms that the spirit of the Holiday's isn't just about Christmas, but about the love that is shared during this special time.
I hope that you also cheat on anything that keeps you away from enjoying all the beauty the season has to offer.
Merry ChristmasandHappy Hanukkahanda Blessed Holiday Season to You and Yours!
