Hi! As the titles suggests, today I'm gonna show you how to overlay handwritten texts to your photos. This can be useful if you like to use your own handwriting in your photos. You can post this as an Instagram photo, Facebook cover photo, picture frame, or anything else you like. But before I start, I would like to dedicate this post to all fathers in the world. Happy Father's Day!
The first step is to prepare your materials. If you haven't read my post about brush calligraphy, make sure to check it out in this post.
Second is to create your desired text. And please don't do it on your bed. I did mine on my desk and just placed the finished product on my bed. Haha!
Then take a close picture of the text. You can use any camera of your choice. Choose wisely. Haha.
Now, open your editing app. I am using Adobe Photoshop CS6. Remove the unwanted parts of the photo by cutting the text only. Add another layer and paste it there.
Notice the Layers window at the right part of this photo, select the image's (the one we cut earlier) layer, and filter it with "Hard Light". You can also use "Linear Light" or "Pin Light". Also, make sure to add a layer before the image's and fill it with white color.
Now merge the two layers.
Adjust the brightness and contrast to your preference.
Now you can arrange and align the text. It's all up to you.
And crop it to remove unnecessary white spaces. If you want to save it with the text being white on black background, just press CTRL (or CMD for Mac users) + I buttons to invert the colors. Then save it, of course.
Now pick a photo where you want to overlay your text. Add it to another layer and pick your desired filter. I saved my text as black on white background. So here, I used "Linear Burn" to achieve this overlay. But I think it's not preferable since we don't have a much lighter background for the text to be really readable. So...
You can use "Dodge" instead.
