Faithful Fridays Kickoff

With the Lent session beginning, I decided to revisit my spiritual life to see what could use some attention. 
Seeing as this blog is meant to be a reflection of me and my life, I was a little disappointed in my lack of religious blog posts.  I might have mention God a few times here and there but I’ve never really explored my religion or delved into my religion beliefs in my posts.
Maybe a few of you think that’s a good thing and I totally understand.  Religion has a way of polarizing people like no other topic.  But I’m hoping that these posts will achieve the opposite of that, unity, understanding and hope.
I’ve never been the judgy, preachy Christian type and I’m certainly not about to start now.  In fact, I’ve been on the flip side of some rather harsh judgments from other well-meaning Christian (that’s another post for another day).  So I promise I’m not using this as a propaganda ploy to get you to become a Christian.

With that in mind, I want to introduce the Faithful Fridays series to you.  Every Friday I will explore my faith with you, the topics I struggle with the most, my newest revelations, my biggest flaws.  All in the hopes that examining my life and my Christian beliefs will help me become a better Christian.  Because Lord knows I struggle with it each and everyday (I’d be lying if I said that being Christian is easy).  
I hope the series will give you a more humble and grounded perspective of Christians because we aren’t all the homophobic, close minded, hypocrites that you see in the media.

In fact, most of us are simply trying to live by Christ’s main precept: to love others unconditionally, no matter if you are gay or straight, male or female, liberal or conservative, religious or non-religious, moral or immoral, WASP or ethnically diverse.  I’m called to love every single member of the human race, regardless of their flaws or past, because Christ loves me despite my brokenness. 
I’m really excited to embark on this journey with you.  I hope this series allows you, my readers, to see a different side of my life and my personality.  And I hope we can have an open, honest dialog that bridges the seemingly insurmountable gap between the perception of Christians and the beliefs of Christians. 
Feel free to ask questions, to disagree and to tell me when I’m wrong.  I’m not so indoctrinated that I can’t recognize when others have proven me wrong. 
So I hope to see you back here each Friday for my Faithful Friday series.  Next Friday, I’ll post a history of my Christian evolution.  Trust me it’s a doozey.
