bible quote 650x487 Faithful Fridays: Resetting My Day

Have you ever had one of those days when everyone around you seems to have something awful to say?

I was having one of those days. There was bickering and snickering and eye rolling as nasty email after nasty email strolled on through.

Most people have the ability to ignore the negativity around them but even when it doesn’t involve me (which in this case it didn’t) I find that each negative encounters seeps into my soul and bit by bit I just become more depressed. I think it’s generally because I have a very soft heart and empathize with everyone even strangers.

When I see people being mistreated around me, I can’t help but be hurt as well. And then all of a sudden, the negativity has won and takes a hold of my joyful spirit.

As I recognized my soul slowly depleting, I decided to proactively find a way to lift myself back up again.

I opened up my Bible and searched for a verse that would speak to me.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

Those ten small words were all I needed to reset myself and to change the path of my day.

It’s amazing that when you need guidance and hope the most, God reaches out to you through His word to calm your heart.

Do you ever turn to the Bible during difficult times?
