I’ve been featuring a lot of recipes and crafts lately so I thought I’d switched things up by posting about something a little more personal—me!
While I feel like my readers know me through my plethora of other personal posts, there are plenty of other aspects of my personality that are easy to disguise behind a computer screen and plenty of unflattering things that I choose not to discuss.
So in the interest of total disclosure, how about I share five things about me that you would probably never guess? (Unless of course you were Mr. A or my Momma—then you already know these factoids)
I May Have Been A BSB Fanatic
Let’s just say that my AOL screenname (remember those things) was Bsbfan8613. And I may or may not have covered my entire room (including the ceiling) in wall-to-wall posters of them.
Can you say majorly embarrassing?
I will say that I grew up in the era of boy bands, where every girl had their diehard favorite group…98 Degrees, N Sync, Backstreet Boys, LFO…So really it was inevitable that I would pick a favorite, right?
I also may or may not have cried when I found out that my favorite member was getting married. Don’t ask me how I convinced anyone to consequently marry me. Although I’m pretty sure I never shared that little factoid with Mr. A until now. Still love me?
I Will Judge You If You Use There and Their or Your and You’re Incorrectly
I will be the first to admit that I’m an awful speller. Like horrible. It’s such an insecurity of mine that I like to type out notes that I write in cards on a computer before actually putting the pen to paper (nothing’s worse than having crossed out words all over a card).
While my spelling leaves a lot to be desired, I do fully judge others for flagrant grammatical errors.
I mean honestly how did you make it through college without realizing that there and their are not interchangeable?
Basic knowledge people.
Although I guess we shouldn’t be surprised, when our society has role models like Lil’ Mama saying things like, “Your squad just did work. W-E-R-K!” on live television. I am now ashamed to be an American…and an America’s Best Dance Crew watcher.
I’m Shy
Even though I put myself out there on the interwebs, I tend to be a pretty shy, introverted person in my real life.
The thought of meeting a whole group of new people is super overwhelming to me—in fact I’m getting queasy just typing these words. I will spend tons of time fretting about social occasions leading up to the situation.
I get anxious and nervous and all palm sweaty. Then I arrive at the event and I’m fine. I don’t have a problem interacting with others. I enjoy meetings strangers and having random conversations.
It’s a bizarre internal struggle of mine. I have major anxiety about social situations until I’m actually in them and then I thrive. Anybody else struggle with this Jekyll and Hyde social anxiety?
I Hate Breaking Rules
Yup, I’m that annoying sibling that never got in trouble growing up.
By nature, I’m not a rebel or a rule breaker. I don’t like to create rifts or cause problems. I enjoy peace and quiet.
I enjoy following rules and I’ve been know to walk away from Mr. A when he insists on breaking them. I will straight up pretend that I don’t know him.
I guess that makes me lame but it also makes me less anxious. For some reason, I always feel like I would be the person to get caught breaking the rules if I ever tried.
I’m A Goof When No Ones Watching
To the outside world, I probably seem a tad uptight. I take acting professionally at work very seriously and I present myself in the most proper and respectful way. I want everyone that interacts with me to think that I’m an intelligent, organized woman.
But that flies out the window as soon as we get home. Then I become a total goofball.
I have a mimic southern accent that I often use to imitate my husband (think Forrest Gump). I make weird noises when I screw something up. I use bizarre nicknames. I generally will do anything to make the hubby laugh.
To me, it’s just a sign that I’m super comfortable with my husband. I feel safe enough with him that I can do pretty much anything and I know that he’ll still love me. And besides, he already knows I’m smart so I don’t have to put on airs
What would people be surprised to know about you?
