Happy Birthday to My Hubby

Happy Birthday to my Hubby
This is the fourth birthday I celebrate for my hubby since we first laid eyes on each-other in November of 2007.
This is also the first time I make it a point to make it only about us.
This is odd if only for two reasons: I usually make it a point to gather people to celebrate our big celebrations. And, I always include people - be it family or friends - to help decide on where we celebrate.
But after a friend of my hubby complained, quite publicly, that Bottega Louie wasn't up to par with her family-run-of-the-mill-chain restaurants, I threw my hat up in the air and gave up.
No more would I try to please everyone, especially if they couldn't -at least- appreciate good food.

The Mozzarella Bar at Osteria Mozza

Any who, my choice this year, as in -I didn't ask a single person, friend, family member, or otherwise, where I should take my hubby-, was none other than one of the best Italian Restaurants in the city: Osteria Mozza.
Fortunately for me, I have worked with Nancy Silverton in the past - and of course - how could she forget the tall glass of water that I am.
She was not only cordial, she made it a point to chat with us and send us something to celebrate my hubby's birthday.
Food, I tell ya, has a way of getting everyone in a pleasant mood - especially when served in a classy joint.

Unfortunately, my hubby was feeling a bit under the weather and didn't feel up-to sitting in a room full of strangers to see Titanic in 3D at the Arclight as we had planned.
We, instead did what we love to do: Walk along the Santa Monica beach and enjoy a cone of the best ice-cream, shopped at Nordstrom, and cuddled with Chatito as we came home later that evening.

It was then, when we were bundled between blankets cuddling with our four-legged son, that we both uttered in unison:  "we didn't need a big celebration, a large party, or the company of others when we have each other."
Yes - we have each other.
Isn't life grand?
