Yesterday was like a family reunion for me and of course I took zero pictures. I have no idea how this happens. I get so caught up in having a good time that I totally forget about picture taking until the next day when I'm wondering why I took zero like an idiot. The reason for the impromptu reunion was my brother David giving the public talk at church. I hadn't been to church in forever, but last week he told me he was going to be the speaker on Sunday. We grew up going to a Spanish congregation and I've seen him give many talks in Spanish, but this was a special occasion because it was his first time giving a talk in English at the English congregation. Everybody was there. As Pamela and I walked in literally every person we came across was either related to me or had known me for 30+ years. My dad was there along with my uncles Juan, Rudy, Robert and David. I can't remember the last time I've seen 5 of the 6 living Cantu brothers under one roof. And with each uncle being there that means tons of cousins and second cousins. Of the 120 or so in attendance I'd say a good third were related to me. I come from a big family. David did a great job and It was nice to have Pamela in town cuz it gave her the opportunity to meet so many of my family who she hadn't yet met (including my brother Carlos but it's totally normal for your girlfriend to finally meet your brother who lives like 3 blocks away from you after almost a year and half together right?) She always makes fun of me for that. We just hadn't had a chance is all. (She just barely met my dad like 2 months ago lol. Baby steps). We all went to Silverado afterward (also not pictured) for some barbecue and we had a really, really good time. I had a blast. Here's a random, slightly related picture of some of my family to make me feel better about forgetting to do this yesterday.
My brother David, sister in law Melinda with my brother Carlos and nephew Brandon, my cousin Juan, my Dad & Me.
The day before was fun too. We started with a late lunch at ihop, then chilled at the house for a good while before heading downtown. Darts at Cassidy's was the plan, but as we got out there we started getting hungry again. Railroad Seafood Station came to mind and we hit it up. Good food, good beer, great company. Perfect. I had the shrimp poorboy aaaaaaaaand I can't remember what Pamela had because the shrimp poorboy was reeeeeeally good :) We followed that up with watching Fury at the movies (not bad, kinda slow at first but the end was good), and that my friends is a backwards account of how my Saturday & Sunday went minus spectacular family pictures because, again, I forgot.
Random people at Railroad Seafood, sure.. I got that. Family pictures the next day, of course not.
Hopefully the rest of today's shift has no more 450 lb patients. 1 was enough. When a mechanical winch is needed to load a patient into the ambulance it's not a good thing. Young guy, too. I always wonder how they get to that point. Made me only eat half of my foot long subway for lunch lol. I think I'll go eat the second half now and hopefully get to watch some Monday Night Football. By the way, the Cowboys are still ruling. Good god 6-1. Suhweet.
