My Valentines Day

My Valentines Day
For the first time in five years, I really didn't want the big Valentines Day celebration.
Now, don't get me wrong, I still expect flowers, a card, and candy from my hubby - but the night out "thing" wasn't my cup of tea this year.
My snobby self is pretty much in hiding because of my swollen foot and now painful knee (story for another day). I don't feel good; and since I can't dress well, I can't fake feeling well when I can't dress the part.
Coincidently my hubby stayed home both Thursday (day before Valentines Day), and Valentines Day.
According to the doctor, he has a chest infection...and as all men tend to do with the slightest bit of health issues, he's milking it.
Aren't we the pair?!
Going back to Valentines Day, we wanted  something low key, but special. As luck would have it, Fresh Brothers, our favorite pizza restaurant, was promoting a heart-shaped pie.  That, my friends, was exactly what we both needed - and wanted!
My Valentines Day
We started the day at one of my favorite bagel places (I could live off of bagels), in the hopes that we could get a heart-shaped bagel...but no such luck! Einstein's Bagels were all sold out!
"Buy wine and pick any movie you want," my hubby told me.  So after I dropped him off at the Dr. Who annual convention, I stopped by the mall to get his gift, and then went to Cost Plus World Market to pick up a bottle of wine.
Well, let. Me. Tell. You. I LOVE World Market. A simple errand turns into a a tour around the world.
Not only did I find wine, but also a bottle of craft beer and a "bar set" for my hubby.
My Valentines Day
I seriously had to leave the store before I caused major damage...but on the way out I found this...
My Valentines Day
An owl lip gloss! O. M. G. I LOVE owls. I had to get it!
Thank goodness everything is pretty much walking distance from where we live.  All of my errands and driving to-and-from the Dr. Who convention site took only a couple of hours. I was then able to finish off my work day and get ready to pick up my hubby.
He was happy to see me. How could he not? He got his "Geek" on and I actually got myself prettied up for him.
My Valentines Day
I kept my look simple: natural hair, red lips and button-down denim shirt and tights. I accesorized with a large glass jewel tone necklace and wore his favorite perfume.  It was a perfect outfit for a special evening in.
My Valentines Day
Truthfully, the movie never happened.

We caught-up on our day, our life, our future. We had dinner, laughed while drinking wine and beer, and over indulging on chocolate. We snuggled with our girl and eventually fell asleep on the couch. Somehow we woke up in bed (sleep walking, maybe?).

My Valentines Day
For all it's simplicity this was a perfect Valentines Day...how was yours?
