That's me a few days after turning 22 on a train in NYC. I was about 2 1/2 years away from joining the fire department. I hadn't seen that pic in forever and I just stumbled across it a few days ago. That was a really fun trip. I laugh when i see my smile cuz i remember as the picture was being taken by either Stef or Amy I felt like the camera was right in my face and i kept saying, "You can take it, but I'm not gonna look." Ah, memories. Little did I know everything that was ahead of me.
Anyhoo, Thursday was an event filled day. Alex from B&J;'s called me up in the early afternoon. It was perfect timing. I was hungry and just thinking about grabbing a bite so we decided to grab some food and drinks at On The Border. He was there with his friend Josh and Brucey Bruce showed up a little later with his wife Colleen showing up a little after he did. The weather was just right. There was a nice cool breeze out on the patio, and the happy hour margaritas were going down smoothly. After a few hours there we decided to change venues to B&J;'s. As Bruce walked Colleen to her car I noticed I was parked right by his truck. I opened my ride and in the cup holder sat a cue ball just waiting to be used. I grabbed it, set it on the running board of Bruce's truck and sent him this text as I drove away.
And so the ball of knowledge was born..
After a great Thursday night at B&J;'s I woke up Friday expecting to just stay in and chill all day. But then Hyland called. He was driving into town so he could help out at a fire department hockey game that was going on at 5. He'd be arriving in town around 3 so he figured we could meet up over at Surf Club and grab a couple beers before the game. Then afterward he was staying in town for the night at my place which pretty much translates to "you and I are gonna bar hop and start a party everywhere we go tonight." And so it went. Best part is when we got to Surf Club I ran into a bartender I know named Fink. "Don't I owe you $20 from a Cowboys bet?" he asks. "As a matter of fact you do." After a couple beers Hyland takes off and I decide to grab a burger and fries. When all is said and done I walk out of there still with $5 left out of the $20 Fink gave me. That my friends is what we in the drinking and partying business call a net profit. Suhweet. From there I met up with Tiffany over at The Cove for a few beers and eventually Frank ended up swinging by along with Hyland when he got out. Theres a daily import special over at Cove so that place is always a winner. From there we made our way over to Molly's to see the beautiful Kaely and Ericka. Josie the Food Pornographer (inside joke) and Deuce end up joining the group. Suffice it to say we enjoyed our Friday night.
The next day at work was chill. We had a small house fire, the normal handful of medical calls, and in the afternoon this hot 20ish looking chick comes knocking on the station door. "Could you guys help me? I was next door at the Starbucks drive thru and I thought there was an exit to the right but it wasn't and now I'm stuck."
"No ma'am, that is not an exit."
Yesterday was my first chill day in a while. Stayed in like a good boy should. Woke up today, mowed my lawn, was productive, and then Alex calls again with perfect timing. "Buffalo Wild Wings in 45," I said. After some delicious boneless wings and a couple Shiners you have yourself ladies and gentlemen to this exact point right here and now. You're all caught up. Maldonado mentioned chillin at Politics tonight. Still not sure. I wouldn't mind just staying in. We shall see.
