Our Wedding: Groom Dances With His Mom

Posted on the 12 January 2012 by Msadams @HilaryFerrell
Today’s post is going to feature the talents of my lovely husband since the post is about his dance with his Mom.  Also, to be fair, I didn’t watch his dance at all.  I’m know, I’m awful.  Since we had just cut the cake, I figured it was my only chance to devour a slice.  So guess what I did?  I stuffed my face at our sweetheart table (sentimental, no?).  I know I have a sweets problem. Anyway, take it away Mr. A.
Our Wedding: Groom Dances With His Mom
The time came for my dance with my mother. My mother had been emotional all day so I naturally assumed she was going to be gushing while we were dancing. Turns out I was right.
My mom and I basically grew up together. She had me and turned 16 a month later. Growing up, I can always remember my mom giving me advice that always ended with, “No matter what you decide to do in life and no matter what path you choose to take remember two things: I will always love you and be with you, and do what makes you happy in this world because you only get one life to live.” With that, I knew the song I wanted to dedicate and dance to with her was My Wish by Rascal Flatts. I thought of my mother the first time I heard that song; the lyrics say verbatim some of the things she has told me growing up. It especially applies because I moved away from home to go to college and now in my career.
No mother is perfect and I’m not saying my mother is, but I wasn’t a perfect son either. She has a soft heart, an undying devotion to those she loves, and perseverance like only a mother has. At the end of the day, she helped me become who I am today. For all her sacrifices and all her trials, I will forever be in her debt.
With that being said, here is the song I danced to with my mom.  You can click the link below to play the song.

“I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you're faced with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you

Our Wedding: Groom Dances With His Mom
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin' til you find the window
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold

Our Wedding: Groom Dances With His Mom And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish
I hope you never look back but you never forget
All the ones who love you and the place you left
I hope you always forgive and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you'd find God's grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything, yeah more than anything

Our Wedding: Groom Dances With His Mom
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish, yeah yeah
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold

Our Wedding: Groom Dances With His Mom
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish
(My wish for you)
This is my wish
(My wish for you)
I hope you know somebody loves you
(My wish for you)
May all your dreams stay big
(My wish for you)"
