Our Wedding Is Published in Baltimore Bride Magazine

So the huge announcement that I hinted at yesterday is that our wedding has been published as a feature wedding in this month’s Baltimore Bride magazine

We owe it to our photographers who diligently sent in our pictures for the submission (thanks, we love you guys!).  It was a complete honor considering this issue is only published once a year.  And, of course, anytime anyone gives you any recognition for something you put so much time and effort into it warms your heart.  Wanna see the pictures?

Our Wedding Is Published in Baltimore Bride Magazine When we picked up the magazine last Friday, we had absolutely no idea what pictures they were going to use.  We were pleasantly surprised to see that our flower girl was featured (she will literally die seeing herself in a magazine).  It’s also nice that my girls got a shout out too.  I was surprised that they included so many detail shots for our spread but I guess that’s what really set our wedding apart.
They featured our invitations (I swear I will blog about these beauties after the wedding recaps), our photobooth props and the locket on my bouquet featuring Mom Mom and Pop Pop.  It was also nice to see that they picked one of our favorite images (and one I haven’t shown on the blog yet), the pink peonies.
I’m sure you’re dying to know the behind the scenes story.  A few months ago, I got a voicemail from our photographers letting me know that they needed to talk to me.  I had a meeting to go to so Mr. A returned their phone call.  When I got out of my meeting, I immediately called Mr. A and he told me that our wedding was being published in Baltimore Bride.  We didn’t know when or what it would look like but they wanted to feature us.
We were so excited and surprised.  A few days later, one of their writers contacted me to interview me for the feature.  She asked me tons and tons of questions, most of which don’t even appear in the article.  All I remember afterwards was thinking that I had so much more to tell her and I left out so many details.  It’s so hard to remember every single little unique thing about your wedding when it’s been almost 6 months since it happened.  When we finished the interview, I asked her if she knew when the article would be featured and she didn’t have any idea, she didn’t even know what pictures they were going to use.
A few months later, an editor called me to cross check all the details in the article.  Basically, she just repeated back everything that I told the writer to make sure everything was accurate.  Somehow something still slipped through though.  I mentioned that Ruffled was an inspiration of mine, and somehow that got turned into Ruffles.  So sorry Ruffled, I was trying to give you a shout out.  Once we were finished, I asked again if they knew when it would be published and we finally got an answer, sometime in January.  But I still had no idea what it would look like or what it would say.
Now this is going to sound really lame, but I totally get where celebrities are coming from about interviews now.  You spend all this time on your baby of a creation only to have less than 1 hour to share all the details with a reporter. There’s no telling what slant the reporter will take and if what they say will really represent you.  But at the end of the day, no one else cares about your wedding as much as you do and no one is as excited about wedding details as brides and (some) wedding vendors.  Now I get why celebs don’t like interviews so much.
Anyway, a few weeks ago Mr. A called the corporate office for Baltimore Bride to check on the magazine and to see if we could get a copy.  And lo and behold, a copy was finally ours.  You should have seen us in the elevators outside of their office frantically searching for our wedding.  People must have thought we were total weirdos.  We immediately called my mom and told her about all the pictures and she, of course, insisted that we swing by her office to show it off to everyone.  It was really cute watching her parade the magazine around to all these male stock brokers who probably could care less about weddings ;) But everyone was really sweet and congratulatory and told us what an honor it must be.
And really it is an honor.  I can’t wait to buy a huge pile of these suckers and save them for the kiddos.  They are going to think that Mom and Dad were superstars.  I’m also pretty excited to show this to our grandparents who I know will get a kick out of seeing us in a real life magazine.
So if you are in Maryland/DC/NOVA area make sure to pick up the Baltimore Bride magazine (it should be in newsstands today) and flip to page 44 to see our silly mugs.
Thanks again Jason and Cicely for making this spread possible and doing such an amazing job on photography (aka the majority of the reason we ended up in a magazine in the first place).  Have you gotten that I’m obsessed with them yet?
