Monster Sweets are an online shop who specialise in European and American chocolate and groceries. They very kindly sent me some products to try so today I am reviewing Bahlsen Pfeffernusse. I had actually never heard of this products before although I have heard of Bahlsen, mainly because they sponsor Person of Interest on Channel 5 but I have to admit that I had never tried any of their products and had no idea what a Pfeffernusse was!
As it turns out that a Pfeffernusse is spiced gingerbread cookie that is coated in sugar glazed and coated in chocolate. They are actually a traditional German Christmas treat and they are also apparently popular in The Netherlands and Denmark.
Although not a huge fan of ginger, I do actually love gingerbread because I am a bit strange like that. Each of these cookies came individually wrapped and weigh 11g each.
The gingerbread is a lovely texture, it is soft and almost cake like. The ginger certainly has a bit of a spicy kick to it but with the sugar glaze and chocolate it is an addictive combination and I soon found myself reaching for another one!
Verdict
Well I have been addicted to Knoppers since Monster Sweets sent me some to review earlier in the year, and now they have got me hooked on Bahlsen Pfeffernusse! You can get them from Monstersweets.co.uk for 25p each but you better hurry because I am off to stock up!
