BEAR Alphabites Cereal
I am back from holiday now so normal service has resumed! I found lots of interesting snacks when I was in Orlando so reviews of those will be coming soon but in the meantime I am reviewing the new cereal from BEAR.
BEAR sent me this awesome parcel of goodies including a little kit to make a spoon shaped bear and I just loved The Review Addict fridge magnets, how cool are they? And they fit right in with the theme of the new cereal: Alphabites! You have probably gathered that they are shaped like letters of the alphabet.
I'm already a big fan of BEAR and their healthier snacks, I love their Yoyos, as does Mr Review Addict who has one every single day!

The packaging looks fantastic and features the usual BEAR logo. Each pack focuses on an individual cereal letter and on the back is a themed adventure relating to that letter. On one pack the letter was E and so the packet focuses on Egypt and has puzzles, jokes and facts. There are currently 8 individually illustrated backs to collect but the remaining letters will be rolled out over the rest of the year.

Alphabites are available in 2 flavours: Multigrain and Cocoa Multigrain. It is aimed at children, to give them a healthier breakfast without all the sugar and salt and to keep them fuller for longer. The cereal is high in fiber and contains just 6 natural ingredients. BEAR uses coconut blossom nectar to make the cereal sweet without the need for any added sugar and because coconut blossom nectar has a lower glycaemic index than sugar it prevents sugar highs and the crashes that follow.

The packet recommends a 30g serving and as the cereal is quite light and airy in texture I was impressed with how much you get for this weight. The Multigrain Alphabites contain 170 calories per serving and the Cocoa Multigrain contain only slightly more at 171.

I have mentioned before on this blog about my dislike of milk and because of this I am a cereal snacker rather than someone who eats it for breakfast. Therefore any cereal I eat needs to be sweet and I have to admit I was a little dubious about how sweet Alphabites would be without any added sugar, but I was pleasantly surprised. That coconut blossom nectar certainly does the job and I found the cereal very tasty. Mr Review Addict rolls with milk on his cereal and he was suitably impressed with the taste too. I hadn't told him about the no added sugar before he tried it and when I later informed him, he was quite surprised.
Verdict I thought that BEAR Alphabites were great! I love that this cereal contains only natural ingredients and I know that Mr Review Addict will be switching to Alphabites for his breakie rather than his usual sugary cereal.  REVIEW!
