Booja-Booja Gourmet Selection Chocolate Truffles
I won this box Booja-Booja truffles via a Twitter competition hosted by Holland & Barrett which I was pretty thrilled about as I never win anything! Booja-Booja are a British company who make dairy, gluten and soya free organic chocolates and ice cream alternatives. I do not have any of these dietary requirements but I fancied giving them a go anyway. This 207g box is usually priced at around £18.99 in Holland & Barrett but they do have an offer on at the moment where you can get it for £14.24.
REVIEW! Booja-Booja Gourmet Selection Chocolate Truffles
I am loving the sleek packaging and when I looked on their website I see that their whole truffle range comes in some very pretty looking boxes. I do like a nicely packed box of choccys, I mean who doesn't?
This Gourmet selection contains 6 different flavours of chocolate truffle: Banoffee Toffee, Stem Ginger, Around Midnight Espresso, Rum Sozzled Sultana, Champagne and Hazelnut. Each truffle contains approximately 63 calories.
The other thing that I liked about the packaging was that it has a foil sheet over the top and each truffle has it's own section. This is so that the flavours are kept separate and they have managed to arrange them so that each flavor is on the edge of the box so it's easy to keep the sections in tact. You then have a little card which maps out where is flavor is, you just need to make sure that the box is the right way up, but if you do get confused there is also a little number on the tray to help, although personally I would have had this on the outside of the foil because otherwise you need to peel back to see it!

All of the truffles look identical, small dark cocoa coated cubes which come in a little paper truffle case. They had quite a soft texture when I picked one out of the box, it felt quite squidgy. The cocoa on the edge was quite strong and slightly bitter but what was beneath that was a lovely smooth truffle. The smooth texture was quite luxurious and it melted very quickly giving a real strong dark chocolate hit.
I have to say that I didn't really care for the Stem Ginger truffle, ginger is always a bit hit and miss for me because if it's too strong as it was here then it's just not to my liking. That said I loved the other flavours and I can't pick a favorite out of the sweet Banoffee Toffee or the slightly boozy Champagne flavours.
Verdict
I thought that these Booja-Booja truffles were fantastic (with the exception of the Stem Ginger flavour, but that is down to personal taste).  The texture was beautiful and because the chocolate was so strong I found that I could only eat a couple at a time. As I mentioned at the start of the review, I don't have any special dietary requirements but it is nice to see that there are some decent options out there for people who do.
