I have been feeling a bit sorry for myself today because tomorrow is my birthday and it's the big 3-oh so I am feeling old and a bit sad to be saying goodbye to my 20s. So what better way to cheer myself up than to feel like a kid again and review some sweets! Not just any sweets, these are Brain Blasterz and they very kindly sent me this big box of goodies to try.
Brain Blasterz are from the same people who make Nanobytes and they carry a tongue in cheek warning that they are not for babies, wimps or adults and this is because they are mega sour sweets. I was really excited to try these as I am a huge sour sweets fan and the more sour the better I say.
First up I tried the Strawberry Sour Straps and the Apple Sour Straws. Both were quite sweet to start with and had just the hint of a tang. The Strawberry Sour Straps were the more sour of the 2 but the Apple Straws were my favorite because I liked the soft white filling.
Candy Brain Blitz have 2 different flavours in each box and they reminded me a bit of Nerds. I enjoyed all of the fruity flavours which all had a sour kick but nothing too extreme.
The Brain Blasterz Hard Candy was quite frankly savage! Now as I said at the start of this review I love sour sweets, so I can usually handle things like this but when I first put one of these in my mouth the extreme sourness hit me straight away and I almost had to spit it out. Just as it got too much however, the flavor became sweet and then just as to start to enjoy it, BAM!...you are hit with more sourness on the inside. I loved Mr Review Addict's reaction when I gave him one of these, it was the funniest thing to watch. He is taking the rest of the box to work with him to see if he work mates can handle them.
I loved the packaging of the Brain Blasterz Oozing Brain Gum. The bright green skull shaped box looked awesome and within it came individually wrapped pieces of chewing gum. The gum was quite sweet and fruity but the gooey inside added a decent sour kick. They are quite large pieces of gum and the sweet flavor lasted a good amount of time.
The Spray Candy was really fun to try. Each spray releases a sour spray on to your tongue and this was another one that I enjoyed inflicting on Mr Review Addict. The raspberry was the most sour of the 3 flavours. I was expecting a shot of color from these sprays but the liquid was clear, I think it would have been quite cool if each spray turned your tongue the color of the corresponding flavor.
Verdict Well Brain Blasterz have certainly done the job in cheering me up, I had a right laugh reviewing these. Some of the products were not as sour as I had expected them to be and others were ridiculously sour but I can honestly say that all of them were fun to try! The RRP for the Brain Blitz and Candy Sprays is 69p. Oozing Brain Gum and the Hard Candy is 99p, whist the Sour Straps and Straws are £1.49 which I think is all very reasonable.
