Last year the lovely people at Cadbury sent me this huge basket of Crispellos to review and it was love at first bite! I was mega excited to hear that there is a new flavor Crispello and here it is...Vanilla Velvet!
Just like the Double Choc version this 30g bar comes in 3 sections with each one containing 55 calories (or 165 for the whole the bar).
Crispello has been aimed at women because it's lighter than a lot of other chocolate bars and lower in calories and I have to admit that this is an attractive point for me. Don't get me wrong, I do love a big old Double Decker but sometimes I do want something a bit lighter but still with a decent chocolate hit and Crispello does the job! I would assume that the release of the new flavor means that this bar has been well received and I have certainly purchased it a few times since my review last year.
I really enjoy the chocolate covered wafers in and I love that fact that it comes in 3 sections so you can always save some until later...not that I have ever done that, it's far too tasty. Anyway I am a big fan of vanilla and wondered if the filling would be similar to the filling in the vanilla Cadbury Egg n Spoon. It was a little bit but it had a nicer texture as it was smoother and creamier and I have to say it was very, very yummy.
Verdict
I was surprised but I actually preferred the Vanilla Velvet Crispello to Double Choc. I just thought that the vanilla flavor really complimented the light wafer. I amm still however hoping for a chocolate and hazelnut version...fingers crossed.
