ChokaBlok products are exclusive to Tesco and I have reviewed a lot of them (you can check out all of my reviews by selecting ChokaBlok from the drop in the side bar). I have been meaning to try these ChokaBlok Gooey Chewy Cheesecake Brownies for a while and found them in the chilled dessert section in Tesco.
I reviewed Billionaires Dynamite Brownies a while ago and wasn't overly impressed which is unusual for ChokaBlok because I usually love their products but they just had too much going on and this meant that they lacked flavor in my opinion. I was keen to see how the Gooey Chewy Cheesecake Brownies compared.
The box of 4 brownies was £2.80, which each brownie containing 200 calories. These chocolate brownies are marbled with vanilla cheesecake, studded with chocolate brownie chunks and drizzled with chocolate ganache, brownies pieces, and chunks of white and dark chocolate. In true Chokablok style that is a lot of stuff packed in!
I thought that the packaging looked really good, it was very eye catching amongst all the other desserts and as well as a very appertising picture on the box, there is a little window so that you can see the actual brownies...and they looked fantastic!
The texture of the brownies was really nice, they were indeed gooey and quite stodgy but this is how I like my brownies. The cheesecake was was good, there wasn't too much to take away from the fact that is is a brownie but there was enough to give a lovely creamy flavor and a slight tang. The toppings were plentiful and I particularly enjoyed the contrast between the moist gooey cheesecake brownie and the more "cakey" brownie pieces.
Verdict Well as far as I am concerned ChokaBlok have redeemed themselves when it comes to brownies as these are awesome! One of the best brownies I have had in a long time!
