REVIEW! Chuao Chocolatier Potato Chip Chocolate Bar
Posted on the 28 November 2013 by Thereviewaddict @TheReviewAddictWell sadly I haven't been able to get my hands on the new chocolate coated crisps from Lays but their recent release reminded me about this Chuao (pronounced "chew-wow") Chocolatier Potato Chip bar that I brought back from Orlando. I tend to be a bit of a chocolate hoarder so sometimes I forget about things that I have purchased so it was a bit of a result when I found this at the bottom of my review box.
Apologies for the next photo, unfortunately the bar didn't quite make it back in one piece but it looks the same as the Maple Bacon bar that I reviewed a while back.
It is a milk chocolate bar containing kettle cooked potato chips and a hint of sea salt mix. Now don't be put off by the fact that this bar came from the USA, this is not like the usual poor excuse for chocolate that a lot of the bigger brands over there sell (no offense to any American readers). Chuao chocolate is decent stuff and I love that they experiment with unusual fillings in their bars.
The pieces of potato chip were small so you couldn't really see them within the chocolate but you knew they were there because of the nice crunchy texture. This isn't the first time that I have reviewed a bar with crisps in it, I did try the Tayto Milk Chocolate Bar with Cheese and Onion Crisps but wasn't particularly impressed. I much prefer this Chuao bar as the potato chip flavor is more subtle and the salty flavor compliments the chocolate rather than over-powers it. The bar is also free from hydrogenated fats, artifical preservatives, colours, flavours and sweeteners.
VerdictChuao have some really interesting bars in their range and if my experiences of the 2 that I have tried is anything to go by, I really hope that I get to go back to the USA at some point and pick up some more!
