A couple of weeks ago I was able to review Nifeislife.com Italian food delivery service (my review here) and one of the products that I ordered was these Sour black cherry Bocconcino from Fimardolci. Bocconcino is not something that I had ever heard of but I really liked the sound of the description of almond paste with sour black cherry jam.
The little ball shaped cakes are quite soft in texture with a slight crisp to the outside which is coated with icing sugar. The inside is much softer in texture with a lovely sweet almond flavor and then a hit of cherry jam. I wouldn't describe the jam as sour but it was very nice and I really enjoyed the combination. The almond filling reminded me a little of frangipane.
Verdict
These Bocconcino are available from Nifeislife.com for £3.09 for a pack of 8 and definitely something I would like to try again.
