When I was recently contacted by a PR agency about reviewing some new Mars products I jumped at the chance and I was most excited about these Squeezable Chocolate Spreads!
They are available in Galaxy Hazelnut and Milky Way varieties with a RRP of £1.99 each. They are both available in Sainsbury's.
I wasted no time in trying the Galaxy Hazelnut spread on a piece of warm toast. A recommended serving is 15g and that contains 83 calories. It was was super easy to squeeze the lovely chocolatey spread from the tube onto my toast. I had visions of it being quite runny so I was surprised at the thick texture but as the toast warmed it up it spread really easily.
The taste was the same rich and sweet Galaxy chocolate as you would expect and the hazelnut flavor although not as strong as I had expected was very nice.
The Milky Way spread was equally thick in texture but looks a bit more interesting as it is stripey! It is a chocolate and skimmed milk spread. The recommended 15g serving contains 84 calories.
I have to admit to being a bit wary of this spread due to the fact that I don't like milk but with the chocolate it tasted lovely and actually ended up being my favorite of the 2.
VerdictThe idea of chocolate spreads in a squeezable tube certainly appeals to the big kid in me. I am definitely going to attempt to write things on my toast, and I reckon you could make some really awesome cake decorations using this stuff too.
