Anyway, when my brother heard that I was doing the challenge he was reminded of something that he had tried and really not liked...Goetze's Cow Tales. These are not chocolate bars so are not part of the challenge but he was keen to see what I thought so he got me a Chocolate Cow Tale along with a Caramel Apple Cow Tale
Cow Tales are American sweets and made from chewy caramel with a creamy center. I had to admit that I wasn't overly keen on the sound of the chocolate version; chewy chocolate sounds a bit wrong, although I do love those Risen sweets (which I have just remembered exist and now I REALLY want some). Both sweets contain 110 calories and were really shiny so complete pigs to take photos of; I apologize for the poor photography skills in this review!
The chocolate Cow Tale was brown as you would except, with a white centre, it also had a sugar coating on the outside. It didn't taste that bad actually, the chocolate was a fairly mild flavor and I quite liked the contrast of the chewy taffy-like outside against the creamy inside.
The Caramel Apple Cow Tale sounded much more up my street. The outside is chewy caramel and it had a bright red apple flavoured center. The caramel didn't taste of much, like the chocolate version it was quite mild but I did really like the apple center which was quite tart against the extremely sweet caramel.
Verdict
Not the sort of sweets that I would rush out and by again, personally I prefer my chewy sweets to be fruity which is probably why I preferred the Caramel Apple Cow Tale. Just an average rating from me.
