REVIEW! Greek Gods Greek Style Yogurt
Posted on the 17 November 2013 by Thereviewaddict @TheReviewAddictGreek style yogurt seems to be a pretty big deal at the moment and I love the stuff so when I was approached to review new brand Greek Gods, I jumped at the chance.
Greek Gods was set up by 3 Greek/American friends and is apparently really popular in the USA. It is available in 4 flavours: Honey, Honey & Walnut, Honey & Clementine and Honey & Vanilla. All are available in 175g pots with RRP of 99p and the Honey flavor can also be found in a 450g pot with a RRP of £1.99. Greek Gods contains 5 live yogurt cultures, all of the flavours are gluten free and they are also suitable for veggies.
I was sent some vouchers so that I was able purchase some Greek Gods to review so I went for a smaller pot of each flavor. The pots are a sort of bronze color with Greek style writing on them and each variety has a different Greek God on the lid. I quite liked this design as it was eye catching amongst the other yogurts and I think it has a premium feel to it.
Wow this stuff is thick! It is a set yogurt so has a slight wobble to it and it is really smooth, rich and creamy. The honey is fairly subtle but adds a lovely sweetness and each of the flavours tasted absolutely delicious. The Honey flavor I imagine would be quite versatile and I am just imagining it being spooned on top of warm pancakes. The Honey & Vanilla which contains bourbon vanilla was delicious with fruit. I loved the festive feel of the Honey & Clementine and Honey & Walnut varieties, the latter being my favorite of the 4 which interestingly doesn't contain any actual nuts! It is flavoured using natural flavours instead but it really does taste of walnut!
I have been eating a 175g pot of Greek Gods for breakfast and it is so delicious and filling. These pots are pretty big and contain around 160 calories per 100g which means that the whole thing is approximately 280 calories. This is ideal for breakfast but if you eat yogurts as a snack and find these pots too big, they will keep for 3 days in the fridge once opened so you don't have to eat the whole thing in one go.
Verdict
I am without a doubt going to be buying more Greek Gods and I suspect as well as it becoming a regular breakfast for me, I will also be trying out some of the recipes on their website, particularly the brownies!
Greek Gods is available in Sainsbury's stores nationwide and can also be found in Whole Foods and Harrods! You can follow them on Twitter and they also have a Facebook page.
