New from Gu are these Gu-Zillionaire's Puds which I purchased in Tesco for £3.59. Gu desserts are always a hit in The Review Addict household and I definitely liked the sound of these!
They described as "a decadent evolution of the classic millionaires' shortbread". They are a treacle infused cheesecake with a chocolate biscuit crumb and salted caramel from Guérande in France. They are also topped with what is apparently Gu's richest ever ganache. I mean doesn't that just sound amazing?
Each 91.5g pot contains 373 calories and comes in one of the nice Gu glass pots with a silver foil lid. I loved the gold sparkly sugar bits on the top and these cheesecakes look so pretty with all their layers.
The ganache was indeed rich and quite thick in texture but it melted nicely in the mouth. The cheesecake was beautiful, it was lovely and creamy and I loved the treacle flavor which came through nicely. The salted caramel was perfect, just the right amount and the chocolatey base had a nice crunch to it; a winning combination!
Verdict
Without a doubt After Dark Gu-Zillionaire's Puds are my favorite Gu dessert to date. Everything these little cheesecakes was spot on, I even love the name!
