I was sent this Christmas Goodie bag to review from Hotel Chocolat and oh what a lovely goodie bag it is! It includes 3 Milk Chocolate Santas, a Cookie and Caramel Wreath, 6 Christmas Mess Chocolates and 6 Treat Tart Chocolates. It comes presented in a lovely white bag with a stylish black ribbon and has a see through window on the front so that you can see all of those awesome goodies.
The Milk Chocolate Santas come in a little red box and are individually wrapped. The milk chocolate contain a minimum of 40% cocoa solids and 20% milk solids. The whole box is 172 calories so don't worry too much if you can't resist eating all 3 of the Santas, even if they are almost too cute to eat!
Treacle Tarts are described as a "marriage of molasses and runny caramel, crowned with crunchy shortbread biscuit" and 3 chocolates contains 208 calories. I thought that the shortbread on top was lovely and buttery and of course the chocolate was excellent quality. The caramel center was dark and rich with a slightly burnt taste from the molasses, it was a great combination.
The wreath was Mr Review Addict's favorite from the bag...there is no way I can get away with not sharing Hotel Chocolat products with my husband! The chocolate has a minimum of 50% cocoa solids and it decorated with caramelised almonds, florentines and biscuits. It is 100g of chocolate and half a wreath contains 252 calories. Doesn't it look pretty? The gorgeous chocolate with the crunchy texture of the nuts, biscuits and florentines which are also within the the chocolate is just perfect.
My favorite was the Christmas Mess Chocolates. These white chocolates contain a cranberry ganache and strawberry mousse and are then topped with meringue sprinkles. 3 chocolates contains 179 calories. I loved these because I just think that the idea is so original, I don't recall ever having cranberry chocolates. The flavours just go so well together; the tartness of the cranberry with the fruity strawberry and very sweet white chocolate is just fantastic and they look great too!
VerdictI know that I have already had one of these Christmas Goodie bags but I really want another one and it will certainly be on my Christmas list this year, in fact I would be delighted with any of the Hotel Chocolat Christmas offerings. I did particularly like the idea of this goodie bag because it means that you get to try several different products within 1 gift. It is available from the Hotel Chocolat website for £18 and worth every penny!
