Hotel Chocolat You Crack Me Up Thick Easter Egg
Hotel Chocolat sent me this Easter egg to review and I was delighted as I make no secret of the fact that I absolutely love their chocolate!
As with all Hotel Chocolat products, it came beautifully presented. It is contained within a flat-bottomed egg shaped box and the chocolate egg sits on a plastic base to hold it in place.
The name "Thick Egg" kind of gave it away but I was still surprised at the thickness of the chocolate when I opened it up.

Within the egg, which comes in 2 foiled wrapped halves were chocolates. I love the idea that they were inside the egg rather than outside, I always wondered what was the point of having a hollow egg with nothing inside but Hotel Chocolat have made their egg well worth cracking open!

There were 12 chocolates, with 2 of each sort. They are all Easter themed with smooth caramel bunnies, white soldiers (which look like they have been dipped in egg yolk), milk chocolate chicks, milk praline fried eggs, crunchy praline faces and chocolate brownie faces.
They were all amazing but my favorite was the chocolate brownie faces which are chocolate butter cream encased in milk chocolate.

The egg itself is made from 40% milk chocolate and high-cocoa white chocolate. It looked lovely with the marbled effect and Hotel Chocolat logo embossed on the outside. It's quite hard to break from the edges as it's so thick so I had to go in from the middle which is a bit thinner. Of course the chocolate was delicious and I can't see it lasting long!
Verdict
To be honest I don't buy many Easter eggs because when you look at the amount of chocolate that you get for the money compared to a bar they do work out expensive. This Hotel Chocolat You Crack Me Up Thick Easter Egg is available from the Hotel Chocolat website or in store and costs £28...trust me, it's worth every penny!
