I picked up this bag of Crunchy Nut Glorious Oat Granola in Asda the other day for £2.00. I don't really eat much cereal as I don't like milk but I buy it for Mr Review Addict and occasionally I will eat it dry as a snack. This one tempted me because it contains chocolate and lets be honest that is rarely a bad thing!
I am not sure if this cereal also comes in a box but I liked the resealable bag because it means that it should be easier to keep the cereal fresh. The bag weighs 380g and describes the cereal as crunchy granola blended with roasted hazelnuts and chocolate chunks. There is also a Fruit and Nut version available.
The suggested serving size is 45g which is 224 calories. The first picture shows you what this should look like, the second picture is what Mr Review Addict classes as a bowl of cereal, I am not sure if you can tell the difference from my photo but it's about 4 times more cereal than in the photo on the left...yes my husband is a savage!
In the bag there was some pretty big clusters mixed in with quite a lot of smaller bits; that's fine if you eat cereal in the way that it is supposed to be eaten, not so good if you are a cereal-snacker like myself and like to eat straight from the bag...now who is the savage?
The clusters were oaty and had a nice sweet taste to them. I was expecting more of the "Crunchy Nut" flavor but it didn't really come through. There were plenty of chocolate chunks but not as much hazelnut as I would have liked. The bag says 4% hazelnut and really there wasn't enough of a taste for me to consider this a "chocolate and hazelnut cereal".
Verdict
Crunchy Nut Glorious Oat Granola is a pretty indulgent cereal and I found it quite filling. I thought that the resealable bag was a great idea but I would have like more nutty-ness from a Crunchy Nut product.
