So far I have reviewed the Kit Kat Chunky Coconut and the Kit Kat Chunky Choc Fudge from the latest Choose a Chunky Champion Competition and today is the mint flavour!
Kit Kat Chunky Mint was the flavor that l was least looking forward to trying. I don't dislike mint, I don't dislike mint at all, in fact when I recently reviewed Rice Krispy Squares Totally Chocolatey Mint I complained that they were not minty enough; just for some reason I had higher expectations of the other flavours.
When I opened the bar I could smell the strong minty flavor straight away. The flavor of this bar is within the chocolate rather than the wafer, but you know when you leave something minty in the same box as something not minty and the flavor gets everywhere? Well this is what has happened with this Kit Kat Chunky; it is very minty indeed!
Verdict
If you are going to do mint, then do mint properly and hats off to Nestle, they played it well with this Kit Kat. I honestly thought that the Coconut Chunky would be my favorite in this round of Choose a Chunky Champion but actually the mint has just overtaken it. I still have yet to try the Hazelnut flavor (not to be confused with Hazelnut Cream) which I shall be reviewing next, but it just seems like so much more effort has gone into this bar. The flavor is really strong, but with the other Chunkys it just seems like a half-arsed effort. I am awarding it 4.5 stars which I know is the same rating as the Coconut flavor but I can't give it 5 stars as it's just not as good as the Hazelnut Cream....hmm maybe I need a Kit Kat Chunky league table?
