Maple flavoured snacks seem to be all the rage this Christmas! The other day I reviewed Penn State Limited Edition Maple and Bacon Pretzels and Marks and Spencer Maple Bacon Popcorn was reviewed by A Review A Day. Here we have another snack featuring Maple (but no bacon) in the form of this Frosted Maple Syrup flavor nut selection. I picked this up this 225g bag Tesco for £2. A 32g serving contains 183 calories.
The bag contains maple syrup roasted peanuts and cashew nuts with chunks of plain chocolate...that sounded pretty epic to me!
The nuts were sweet but not as sweet as candied or honey roasted nuts and the maple gave them that sort of earthy flavor. The maple flavor was fairy subtle so you still got a little bitterness from the peanuts, they were nice but I would have liked the maple to come through a bit stronger. The chocolate was OK, it was never going to be amazing in this sort of product but it did make a nice addition to the mix, adding a bit more sweetness.
Verdict
Whilst I enjoyed the taste of this mix I felt that there were too far too many peanuts versus cashews which is a shame because the cashews were very tasty indeed. Also thumbs up for the influx of maple snacks but and I would have liked the flavor in this one to have been a bit stronger.
