McCain Potato Waffles
I reviewed the new McCain Quick Cook French Fries the other day and when those were sent to me, I also received some of their new Potato Waffles to try. I had always assumed that McCain already made potato waffles so I was quite surprised to find these as a new product. They are available in all of the major supermarkets and I have seen them on offer in Tesco for £1 a bag.
The waffles are made from mashed potato and prepared with sunflower oil. You get 8 waffles in the bag and each one contains 127 calories. They cook from frozen in the oven for around 12-15 minutes or you can grill them. I did mine in the oven for the full 15 minutes as I like them slightly browner.

The waffle was a lovely golden color and I enjoyed the crispy texture. I have to admit that I don't buy potato waffles very often because sometimes they don't cook very evenly on the inside and the potato can be a bit heavy going but I was quite impressed with these as they were very soft and fluffy.
Verdict
Next time I buy potato waffles, I will be buying McCain Waffles and it's just occurred to me that they would be great in-between a couple of slices of bread as an alternative and much less messy chip butty!
