I reviewed Megaload's Original Peanut Butter Cups the other day and was pretty impressed and awarded them 4.5 stars. Whilst I was picking those up from The Stateside Candy Co in Aldershot I also picked up these Caramel Crunch Cups also from Megaload.
The caramel cups also came in 3 cup pack, one with Candy Coated Chocolate Pieces, one with Peanut Butter Crunch and one with Almond Butter Crunch. Each cup is slightly less calories than the peanut butter ones at 110 per cup.
The Candy Coated Chocolate Pieces cup looked much the same as the peanut butter version that I reviewed previously but I have to say that I was a little disappointed with the amount of toppings on the other 2 cups.
Peanut Butter Crunch
Above is the Peanut Butter Crunch up, it had a small dusting of some crumbly stuff but there wasn't a lot of it and it didn't taste massively of Peanut Butter either. The Almond Butter Crunch was better but still not as awesome looking as in the photo on the packaging. I did really like the nutty taste of this topping though as it went really well with the caramel.
Almond Butter Crunch
The chocolate as you would expect was the same chocolate used in the Peanut Butter Cups but because caramel is not as strong tasting as peanut butter, you could taste it more and I really do think that this chocolate is loads better than Reese's/Hershey's which is the American chocolate that I am used to.I was pretty excited to try these and in my haste I forgot to take a picture of the inside of the cup so I am pretty annoyed with myself but it does look a lot like the picture on the packet. The caramel is quite thick and very sweet.
Verdict These Caramel Crunch cups were nice but not as nice as the peanut butter versions and I did feel a little short changed with the toppings on 2 of them. What would be really good would be a combination of the 2; a peanut butter and caramel cup! I have had a Reese's version of this but the chocolate was disappointing so hopefully Megaload will bring out their own version.
