This weekend I visited the The Stateside Candy Co in Aldershot as my American sweet supply was running low and also I was on the hunt for these Megaload Peanut Butter Cups. The Stateside Candy Co is the official UK distributers for Megaload Cups which are imported from the USA.
This king size variety pack contains 3 peanut butter cups with some pretty awesome toppings: a chocolate chip cookie, candy coated chocolate pieces (which look suspiciously like M&Ms to me) and a chocolate sandwich cookie (similar to an Oreo). This pack cost me £1.49 and each cup weighs 23g and contains 120 calories. There are also 2 other packs in the Megaload range: Sweet and Salty Peanut Butter Cups and Caramel Crunch Cups (I will be reviewing these soon).
The chocolate on these cups is much nicer than I was expecting. I say that because although I like another famous brand of peanut butter cups, the chocolate that they use is pretty average. These Megaload cups have a much nicer chocolate, not as creamy as we are used to in the UK but I still enjoyed it. The peanut butter filling is really good; it is smooth and very sweet with only the slightest hint of saltiness.
I shared these with my husband (as I always do, being the awesome wife that I am) and he liked the chocolate chip cookie cup the best. My favorite was the candy coated chocolate pieces as I just loved the texture of the crunchy shell but all 3 cups were very good.
Verdict Peanut butter cups are one of my favorite American treats and with the extra toppings these Megaload cups make them even better! I can't wait to try the other flavours in the range!
