REVIEW! Necco Sky Bar

Necco Sky Bar
The other day I posted about my challenge to find some really bad chocolate. Well it turns out that I didn't have to look too hard as I already had a couple of terrible bars in my Review Box! Before Christmas I placed an order with Monster Sweets and treated myself to a Necco Sky Bar as I loved the idea of 4 different fillings in one chocolate bar, also it was a bargain at £1 which for imported chocolate is a very good price.
The 42g bar which contains 200 calories is from American company Necco. Perhaps this should have been a warning because I reviewed their Tropical Wafers last year and I wasn't impressed.

The 4 different sections are caramel, vanilla, peanut and fudge. I like all 4 of those things so it all sounded very promising to me. The packaging looked pretty cool, I liked the bright yellow wrapper and it had quite a retro feel to it. According to Wikipedia the Sky Bar has been around since 1938 and I suspect that the idea of the 4 different fillings would have been quite ahead of it's time.

Some American chocolate can be quite hideous if I am honest, I am not the biggest fan of Hershey's, but you can still have a great bar and forgive the chocolate if the fillings are good. For instance I really like the 5th Avenue bar even though the chocolate could have been better because the inside of the bar is awesome.
Sadly the filling in this Sky Bar are not the best, they were overly sweet and sickly and I couldn't differentiate very clearly between the flavours, except for the peanut butter. This peanut butter was not like a lovely Reese's peanut butter but instead it tasted a bit weird, almost bitter compared to the other 3 sections. And As for the chocolate I am sorry to say that this is definitely one of the bad ones, it tasted oily and bitter with no creaminess to it at all.
Verdict
Taste-wise the Necco Sky Bar was pretty terrible and I am sad to say that it has made my 10 Worst Chocolate Bars. I loved the idea of the different fillings, it's a great novelty, so it did get an extra half star for that. You can keep an eye on my 10 Worst Chocolate List which now has it's own page at the top of this blog, or click here!
