REVIEW! Pop-Tarts Gone Nutty Chocolate Peanut Butter
Posted on the 29 August 2013 by Thereviewaddict @TheReviewAddictI was desperate to find tarts Pop-Tarts but I refused to give in and pay the extortortionate prices that they were being for sold in the UK, especially since I am off to the USA in a couple of weeks...I mean seriously £7 a box anyone? Luckily The Stateside Candy Co. in Aldershot have recently starting stocking them at a very reasonable £3.95 for a box of 6.
They come in a very snazzy gold wrapper, not the usual silver one that I am used to. Is it me or are Pop-Tarts smaller these days? They are definitley getting a bit tight with the frosting too; I swear that they used to be covered along the whole length. Perhaps it is to cut down on the calories which is 200 per Pop-Tart by the way.
I like my Pop-Tarts warm (unlike Mr Review Addict who eats them cold...weirdo), so I popped them in the toaster. I think that finally, after years of practice, I have perfected the art of getting a Pop-Tart just right and not burning my face off on the filling!
The chocolate crust and the frosting were both pretty average, a bit mockolatey to be honest. I don't think that this is the same frosting as on the UK Chocolate Pop-Tarts because they taste awesome and these were just a bit...meh. The peanut butter filling was a lovely smooth texture but it was not as sweet or as salty as I had hoped for and I found it to have quite an earthy taste.
Verdict I have to admit that I was a little disappointed by Pop-Tarts Gone Nutty Chocolate Peanut Butter. The chocolate was lacking in chocolatey-ness and the peanut butter which should have made a nice contrast just didn't really do much for me. These should have been amazing but they turned out to be just average in my opinion. I am really glad that I didnt fork out the big bucks for them.
