It's no secret that I love coconut and fellow coconut fan Katherine from Grocery Gems blog very kindly sent me this Ritter Sport Kokos bar a while back. It's become a bit of a joke that Katherine is my Ritter Sport dealer because she has sent me quite a few Ritter bars in recent times, and I think most of them have also been coconut related!
Apparently Ritter Kokos was variety of the year for 2013 and it comes in the familiar square bar that I am used to seeing from Ritter Sport. There seems to have been a lot of coconut bars around this year and that is just fine with me, it's great to see that it is once again becoming a popular flavor.
The bar is Alpine milk chocolate with a cocoa content of 30% and it is filled with coconut milk cream and crispy coconut flakes. I could tell that this was going to be a very coconuty bar because the aroma was so strong when I opened the packet and I really could not wait to get stuck in.
With the warm weather that we have been having lately I haven't been eating as much chocolate as usual but when I have, I favour lighter bars and Ritter Sport Koko was the perfect choice because that creamy coconut filling is just heavenly. It is really smooth and sweet but the coconut flakes add a lovely contrast and more coconut flavor.
Verdict I am sure that it comes as no surprise that I am awarding this bar full marks. Katherine's review (here) was spot on, this really is the best Ritter Sport bar ever and easily one of the best coconut bars I have ever tried. Thanks Katherine!
