I really love Sainsbury's Taste The Difference Raspberry and White Chocolate Cookies and hadn't realised that they also do a chocolate bar! I picked up this Taste The Difference Swiss Fairtrade White Chocolate With Raspberry bar in Sainsbury's the other day as it was on offer for £1.
It is a 100g bar that comes in 10 fairly large sections. Each piece is 54 calories and has a fleur de lis and striped design. If you flip the bar over you can see the little pieces of raspberries speckled throughout and I think it looks very pretty!
The bar smells quite strongly of vanilla and the packaging describes it as having a rich vanilla flavor of Cornish ice cream. I wouldn't go as far as saying it tasted of ice cream but the Swiss white chocolate is deliciously smooth and creamy and the vanilla flavor really does come through.
What surprised me about this bar was that it had a crunch to it, I think I was expecting the little pieces of raspberry to be chewy but the texture was really nice. The raspberry flavor was stronger than I had anticipated and there was a hint of tartness in the after-taste; against the sweet and creamy white chocolate it was an interesting combination of flavours and I really enjoyed it.
Verdict
The packaging also describes the bar as having "a taste of summer" and I am with them on that one. It's a really interesting bar and I will definitely buy it again. I hope the fact that it was on offer doesn't mean that it is on it's way out as that would be a real shame!
