REVIEW! Sanpellegrino Chino

Sanpellegrino Chino
I got this drink as part of an order from Nifeislife.com and it's not a product that I had ever heard of so of course I was curious. The 33cl can was 67p and contains 152 calories.
Chino is a drink made from chinotto which is apparently a smaller bitter citrus fruit similar to an orange. With this in mind, I was expecting an orange color drink but it was dark and looked like a cola.
The drink smelt almost alcoholic, a bit like spiced rum but it is actually a sparkling soft drink. The taste was quite odd, it tasted a bit like a cola at first with a hint of caramel and fruit; it kind of reminded me a bit like Pepsi Raw (who remembers that?). The problem was the after-taste which was incredibly bitter! Now usually I love bitter flavours, I can quite happily sit and suck on a lemon but this was REALLY bitter and I have to say quite unpleasant.
Verdict
Sadly Chino is not for me but it's been around for a long time so it must be popular! If you like Italian food or want to give this drink ago, check out my review of Italian food delivery service Nifeislife.com here.
