This week is Taywell Ice Creams week on The Review Addict. Taywell Ice Creams are a Kent based ice cream makers with a passion for locally sourced ingredients and bold flavours. Day 2 sees me reviewing Taywell's Honeycomb flavor ice cream and I have heard that this is one of their most popular flavours. Honeycomb is not a flavor of ice cream that I have seen before and if you have read any of my other reviews from some of the more mainstream brands you will see that I have been complaining about a lack of exciting flavours in the UK. Honeycomb excites me...and so do the other flavours that I am reviewing this week but you will have to wait and see what those are. One of them is a bit insane in my opinion but I am really looking forward to trying it!
The Honeycomb ice cream came in the same bright yellow tub/box that the Dulce de Leche flavor came in and it was a little harder to scoop because of the big bits of honeycomb were quite sticky. This is how honeycomb should be though, not those horrible hard bits of chocolate coated rubbish that you get in bags in sweet shops that nearly break your teeth. This stuff looked delicious and was a fabulous orange colour! Don't worry though; Taywell Ice Creams do not contain any artificial additives or colours, these are all natural ingredients.
The ice cream smelt very sweet with a hint of burnt toffee and the texture was absolutely perfect. Too many times I have seen brands concentrate on adding "bits" to their ice cream but failing on the ice cream itself. Not Taywell though, they have got it spot on again with this flavour! The ice cream was rich and creamy with strong a honeycomb taste throughout...perfection!
Verdict
I said at the start of the review that I had heard that Honeycomb is one of Taywell's most popular flavours and I can absolutely see why...it is amazing! Mr Review Addict and I loved this flavor so much that we went back for seconds and ended up polishing off a whole tub between the 2 of us. Double swimming for me tomorrow but so worth it!
