As you know, this week I have been sampling the new Tesco Finest range and I was lucky enough to be sent some gift vouchers from their PR company so that I was able to purchase some of the new fresh produce. So, let's talk mushrooms!
Tesco Finest Stuffed Forestiere Mushrooms are filled with caramelised red onion, smoked garlic and creamy soft cheese and then topped with ciabatta crumb made from a 24 month-aged parmigiano reggiano cheese. Each mushroom contains 110 calories and the pack of 2 costs £2.50.
They are super easy to prepare, you just pop them in the oven for 25-30 mins and whilst they were cooking my house was filled with the most delicious garlicy smells! They are lovely big juicy mushrooms and filling was as delicious as it smelt. I loved the creamy texture of cheesy topping and the crunchy crumb on top. I would quite happily serve these as a starter at a dinner party, or I actually had them both to myself with a big salad and it was a lovely dinner, even though I did slightly over cook them.
Another new Tesco Finest product is these Wild Mushrooms. The come in a 100g pack and are priced at £2 each. There is actually an offer the moment for 2 packs for £2 so they are great value.
I have to admit that I had never tried wild mushrooms before as I usually go for button mushrooms so it was nice to try something a bit different. I fried them with lots of black pepper and put them in omelet with some grated parmigiano reggiano cheese and I have to say that they were beautiful. They were so full of flavor and I loved my posh omelette!
Verdict I was very impressed with the new Tesco Finest mushrooms but I have to say that my favorite was the Stuffed Forestiere Mushrooms, I thought that they were just beautiful! My only one bit of feedback would be that the store that I purchased them from kept the packs on the side so some of them had got a bit messed up and I had to look for a packet with the topping in tact. They would be much better kept flat, but I really cannot fault the taste!
