These savoury doughnut are not something that I have created out of a pregnancy craving, they are a genuine new product from Tesco. Weirdoughs (love the name!) are meant to be a cross between a crisp and a doughnut and I am sure to a lot of people they will sound a bit wrong, but to me they sounded like heaven!
You see I love pretty much anything coated in vinegar, pickled this, pickled that, salt and vinegar crisps, you name it; I could quite happily drink the stuff out of a bottle! So a doughnut with vinegar just sounded awesome. They also do a cheese and onion flavor but I was far more excited about this one.
These are small mini ring doughnuts and they cost me just £1 for bag of 10. The doughnut was exactly as you would expect a normal doughnut to be; light, fluffy and sweet but with a subtle salt and vinegar flavor. This flavor could have been stronger but it still worked well as you get the sweetness of the doughnut against the saltiness and a slight tang from the vinegar. I thought it was a great combination!
Verdict
So wrong and yet so right! My only complaint would have been that I would have liked more of the vinegar to come though but nonetheless I enjoyed these strange little snacks.
